Although it seems more impossible than possible, the rumors linking Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to his former club Manchester United continue to linger on. Being one of the greatest ever players in the game, Ronaldo has traveled across different clubs in Europe and has conquered the different leagues he has been to.
After leaving his childhood club Sporting Lisbon, where he started his career from and also where he was signed by Manchester United legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, he then moved to Old Trafford back in 2003, where he eventually established himself as a polished star and transformed himself from a youngster to a world-beater.
He left United in 2009 and went to Real Madrid in a then-world-breaking transfer that saw the Spanish club pay a huge sum for his signature. Although everyone knew how good Ronaldo was, it was hard for someone to have correctly predicted that he would leave the Spanish side as one of the club’s greatest-ever players. He left Madrid as their greatest goalscorer and won the most UEFA Champions League titles than any other player in the club’s history.
In 2018, he decided it was time for him to move on. He told Madrid president Florentino Perez of his desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu and he chose Juventus as his next destination. Since 2018 till date, no player has scored more goals than Ronaldo in the Italian Serie A. Although he has been unlucky with Juve in Europe since his move to Italy, he has been banging in goals regularly.
However, he once said that he would cherish the idea of ending his playing career at Sporting Lisbon, where it all started for him. Meaning that a return to Old Trafford could be totally off the cards.
