Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos says that he wants striker Cristiano Ronaldo to continue in the impressive score form he has shown for the last few months.
After a disappointing World Cup 2014, questions were asked about Ronaldo’s ability to retain the FIFA Ballon d’Or award. The 29-year-old has emphatically answering these questions with loads of goals. He has been a major factor in Madrid winning 17 matches on the bounce. The former Manchester United man took his league tally to 23 for the season after hat-trick against Celta de Vigo. Madrid won the encounter 3-0 and equalled the record set by Barcelona for the most number of consecutive victories – 18.
Even though Ronaldo failed to shine at the World Cup, he still remains as one of the favourites for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award after helping the club win the Champions League and the Copa del Rey titles last season. Madrid started the season poorly, but Ronaldo’s form has helped them open a two-point advantage over archrivals Barcelona. Ronaldo is comfortably ahead of his closest rivals like Neymar and Lionel Messi in the la Liga goalscoring chart. Seven of his goals have come from the penalty spot, but he has also opened the scoring on seven occasions.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is a really important player. He put in a very good match and was decisive once again. He’s always a key player and I hope he keeps it up.The key is to keep up this consistency. We have to keep working like this and winning games. What’s most important isn’t the record for wins, but keeping on winning every game and staying in top spot.We can’t take anything for granted. The secret is hard work, fighting spirit, togetherness and everyone showing desire,” said Kroos after his team’s latest win.
